Also known as Bakri Eid, this festival honours the sacrifice Abraham was willing to make of his son, in accordance with God’s command. Instead, as the legend goes, God allowed him to sacrifice a goat instead. Till today, this story is commemorated by Muslims around the world, as Eid-al-Adha, when a goat is sacrificed in the name of God. One third of the goat is given to the poor, one third shared with friends and relatives, and a third is kept by the family.
In celebration of this holy occasion, we share our guest blogger Farrukh’s special recipe for a delicious treat.
